Automotive Glaziers and National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs/SVQs)

The Glass Qualifications Authority is the only nationally approved awarding body offering NVQ/SVQ Automotive Glazing qualifications throughout the UK and Great Brian and Northern Ireland.

The sector has been deriving the occupational standards for automotive glaziers since the late 1980s and thousands of individuals have registered on, and achieved GQA NVQs/SVQs. The current NVQ/SVQ qualifications are approved for registration purposes until mid 2010 and are the only nationally approved competence record for automotive glaziers. Candidates once registered will have until 2012 to achieve their Level 2 qualification and until 2013 to achieve their Level 3.

The achievement of the automotive glazing NVQs is the only named qualification in PAS 125:2007 of “evidence of competency”. PAS 125 is the BSI Automotive Service Body Repair Specification.

The sector has completed s standards review with Proskills, the only Sector Skills Council approved to derive national occupational standards for Automotive Glaziers.

The Proskills National Occupational Standards (NOS) and GQA NVQ/SVQ work based competence based qualification are the only basis of accessing the GQA nationally recognised Automotive Glazing competence card (The ‘Q’ Card).

Should you require any further information on the implementation of the only nationally approved Automotive Glazing competence based qualifications or wish to contribute to the review of the current standards, please do not hesitate to contact GQA.
