Will Construction Sites Become More Dangerous?

Construction sites could become more dangerous during the recession, the construction union UCATT has warned. Alan Ritchie. UCATT’s general secretary warned that the industry is too willing to pay ‘lip service’ to safety. “When times are tight, safety is the first to be cut,” he said. The union is also warning that with thousands of construction workers losing their jobs, those who remain in work will feel under additional pressure to perform unsafe tasks.
