The Safety of Migrant Workers in the UK

Many GQA Centres have access to Migrant Workers (indeed some such individuals are registered as working towards GQA qualifications)
GQA subscribe to the services of Peninsula UK who provide us with expert advice on Employment Law and Health and Safety issues.

A document “Safety of Migrant Workers” is one of many documents provided by Peninsula. A copy was forwarded to GQA Centres in Sept 2009. It makes interesting reading for those involved with migrant workers ie those individuals who have come to the UK within the last 5 years in order to find or take up a specific post. The document reinforces some of the issues that GQA External Verifiers take up with Centres including the potential risks for those who are unfamiliar with the English language (and particularly with the language of UK qualifications). It also provides guidance on testing and training issues and the importance of risk assessments.
