FENSA
What is FENSA
FENSA is the Government authorised and audited scheme for companies self certifying compliance with the Building Regulations for their replacement glazing work in England and Wales.
WHY FENSA?
Anyone who installs replacement windows or doors must comply with current building regulations and thermal performance standards. When the time comes to selling a property, the purchasers solicitors will ask for evidence that any replacement glazing installed since April 2002 complies with the Building Regulations. One of the simplest ways that homeowners can prove compliance is with a FENSA building regulations certificate to demonstrate that the work has been self certified by a FENSA installer. The FENSA certificates can be inserted into the Home Information Pack.
To date, thousands of businesses nationwide, comprising of small sole traders through to larger home improvement companies and local authorities, have joined FENSA – together, they undertake over 90% of replacement glazing installations in England and Wales, In total, the FENSA scheme has notified over 7 million installations to Local Building Control departments nationwide on behalf of its installers and sent out a homeower’s Building Regulations certificate for each of these.
A percentage of the work of every FENSA registered business is inspected by an independent inspection body to ensure that Building Regulations and thermal performance standards are met and maintained.
