BT Progress on Super-Fast Broadband

Super-Fast broadband will be available to two-thirds of the population by 2015, BT promised yesterday.

The fibre broadband service will be offered to millions more homes than originally planned because of a £2.5 billion investment, it said.

The telecommunications company has previously stated that two-fifths of home would be able to get the speedier broadband by 2012.

Efficiency improvements had allowed BT to offer it to more people, said chief executive Ian Livingston.

The quicker access will allow the company to increase the number of TV channels it can offer, it said.
