SMEs Gain Broadband Support in Northern Ireland

A broadband advice centre has opened in Northern Ireland to help small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) take advantage of the digital revolution.

Enterprise minister Arlene Foster explains that the Omagh-based facility will provide free advice to the country’s small companies on how they can implement broadband plans and make the most of the technology.

The centre will encourage firms to exploit online sales and undertake internet marketing.

She adds: ‘This is a key frontline service for SMEs and is one of a number of actions being taken under the Programme for Government to capitalise on Northern Ireland’s world-class telecommunications infrastructure’.

In addition to the centre, the scheme features a mobile unit which will travel across the country, while companies can book one of its ten advisors to visit their premises.

Earlier this year, Foster confirmed her support to rural companies by promoting a scheme to increase broadband services in remote areas of the country.
